50th Post! June 2011 Birchbox — Wanderlust, and May Birchbox favorites!

Hi there,

We’ve got a serious case of wanderlust — we’re dreaming of tropical isles with deserted white sand beaches and exotic cities filled with colorful bazaars. Is it any surprise that this month’s box is all about travel? We’re excited to share our favorite vacation-ready products and jetsetter tips.

Streamline your makeup bag with a skin-perfecting blush that doubles as a highlighter and a toner that can be used as a face mist. We’ve also got spill-proof nail lacquer removers, a frizz fighting serum, and a fun-loving scent from a globe trotting designer.

Kate Spade | Twirl, 0.05 fl. oz. | Full size, 1.7 fl. oz. $65 / 3.4 fl. oz. $80: “This flirty scent feels carefree and joyful — just the thing to wear on your adventures at home and abroad.” I’m not sure if I like this. At some moments it smells like bug spray, and other times it feels like running through sheets as they dry outside on the clothing line. I suck at describing scents by their notes, etc. but I can tell you how it makes me feel. So that’s what I just did.

Oscar Blandi | Olio di Jasmine Hair Serum, .169 fl. oz. | Full size, 50ML $35 / 15ML $16 | “Banish frizz and flyaways with this fast absorbing serum. Work it through dry or damp hair to add moisture and gloss — no blow dryer required.” I love this! I used this after I got out of the shower and I had Pantene-commercial hair. I used Garnier Fructis Pure Clean shampoo, conditioner, and I think the leave in conditioner. Then I thought, “Oh, I have that thingy!” It was awesome.

Deborah Lippmann | The Stripper To Go Nail Lacquer Removers, 2 mitts | Full size, 10 mitts, $12 | “Fix your mani on the fly! Each handy packet contains a remover-soaked “mitt” that erases polish without drying out nails.” There are supposed to be two in that picture. I used one. It was fantastic. It cut through a coat of Seche Vite, 2 coats of China Glaze Japanese Koi, and a coat of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Hardener like it was nothing. I will be buying these and keeping them in my purse, along with my nail clippers and file.

Laura Geller | Baked Blush ‘N’ Brighten, 0.32 oz. | Full size, 0.32 oz. $29.50 | “Made in Italy, this swirl of warm and cool tones is infinitely versitle — dust your cheeks for a flattering flush or use the lighter shades as a highlighter.”  I do not like this at all. It’s crazy sparkly. When I washed my face, it looked like Ke$ha attacked me. However, it is a full sized product. I wish I hadn’t opened it, I’d sell it or give it away. Here’s the swatches.

Highlighter, darker shade, lighter shade, all colors combined

DO NOT WANT. 🙂

Pangea Organics | Toner for Normal/Combination Skin, 1.8 fl. oz. | Full size 4 fl. oz. $26 | “Laced with mandarin and lime, this energizing toner is a skincare staple and the ideal on-the-go refresher.” I LOVE THIS PRODUCT SO MUCH YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW. I don’t know why, but just a few spritzes every morning and night before my moisturizer cleared up my acne prone skin. My skin is glowing and happy, and this is the only thing I’ve changed.

FAVORITE MAY 2011 BIRCHBOX FAVORITES:

In the May 2011 Birchbox, we got our mother’s wishes in a box. I wasn’t too thrilled with this box, but I did love one product.

Stila | Eyeshadow in Poppy | I love this shadow! Just ordered recently ordered Kitten and Terracotta. I’m waiting my the mailbox for them. 🙂
