Belated Press Release: OPI Announces It’s James Bond Collection, SKYFALL.

Well it’s a James Bond week around here at the Kettle Rose headquarters! (My couch) I’m excited for the movie, so when this nail polish collection rolled out, I had to grab it all! Unfortunately, my wallet hasn’t allowed me to do so yet, but there are a bunch of bloggers who have the swatches up. But in case you haven’t seen them, here’s the press release photos for you!

Clockwise from Upper Left: Goldeneye, The Spy Who Loved Me, Die Another Day, and Casino Royale.

  • GoldenEye | All eyes will be upon you when you wear this glorious gold.
  • The Spy Who Loved Me | A red as romantic as the secret agent inside you.
  • Die Another Day | Live in the moment in this hot and lively red.
  • Casino Royale | This high-rolling plum is fit for royalty.

You Only Live Twice, Skyfall, Moonraker, and Tomorrow Never Dies

  • You Only Live Twice | This rich high-shimmer magenta is a once-in-a-lifetime find.
  • Skyfall | Get Bonded with this magnificent maroon.
  • Moonraker | Drive your fastest car to this exhilarating metallic grey.
  • Tomorrow Never Dies | This eternally intense purple will live forever.

The Living Daylights, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live & Let Die, and The World is Not Enough

  • The Living Daylights | This courageous multi-hued glitter sparkles 24/007.
  • On Her Majesty’s Secret Service | This misty-green pewter commands attention.
  • Live & Let Die | Burn the candles on both ends in this private jet black.
  • The World is Not Enough | This rosy silver is as addictive as it is beautiful.

This holiday season, OPI celebrates the 50th Anniversary of a fellow world icon – James Bond – appearing in Skyfall. Starring Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem, this highly-anticipated twenty-third installment opens in theaters nationwide on November 9, 2012.

Inspired by the film’s blend of glamour and danger, OPI launched Skyfall Collection, featuring twelve limited-edition nail lacquers for Holiday 2012.

The Skyfall Collection features six shades that play off the movie’s seductive theme, and another six that offer a more dangerous look.

OPI is Big Three Free, which means they don’t contain DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde.

The Skyfall collection is available now at professional salons, including JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each polish.

MY THOUGHTS: I need GoldenEye, The Spy Who Loved Me, Die Another Day, Skyfall, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live & Let Die, and The World is Not Enough. If the funds allow, I’ll get Casino Royale and Tomorrow Never Dies. I’ll pass on Moonraker and The Living Daylights. Not my style.

Go look up some swatches and buy, buy, buy! (But leave some for me.)

Fashion Roundup: 2012 People’s Choice Awards

So, last nights People’s Choice Awards were pretty underwhelming, both the show, and in the fashion and beauty department. I personally liked Kaley Cuoco as host, but I feel like nothing actually happened on the show. Did they even give out awards? All I remember is the hilarious Ellen DeGeneres/Sofia Vergara’s new CoverGirl ad together. Or Ellen’s acceptance speech. Pretty much… Ellen. Was the best part. And as I said, nothing fantastic happened on the fashion front. I wasn’t wowed by anything.

Ashley Greene — The Twilight star was a presenter last night and she looked amazing in a custom DKNY dress and black Brian Atwood platform pumps. I loved the dress, but it was really tight. I mean.. you can see everything. It’s like… second skin tight. It isn’t supposed to be flattering (I mean, you can tell she’s cold), but she pulls it off so well despite probably not being able to breathe. I just have to give her all the props in the world. She kept everything black, no flash of neon or contrast of any kind. She kept it simple and gorgeous. Which allowed her AMAZING hair and makeup to shine through.

Her hair is probably the best color ever. (Can you see the tiny JJ on her chin? 😄 I never would have thought of that, but Just Jared did.) She has a wonderful full coverage foundation with a dewy finish, a natural smokey eye, with a chocolate shadow in her crease, a black ever-so-slightly winged out line, and false eyelashes. I can see some light contouring, along with a peachy-pink blush, and a pinkish lipstick. That and her sculptured curls make a perfect girlie chic with the obvious edge of leather.

Chloë Moretz is the winner of the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 award last night, beating out her competitors- most of the Harry Potter cast! She walked the red carpet wearing a turquoise and black striped Proenza Schouler mini and black and clear Dolce mary janes. First of all, let me say, I hate the shoes. Feet bother me because they look awkward. So naturally, in my opinion any shoe that shows off the toes kinda bother me (i.e. peep toes, clear, and sandals). So. I don’t like the shoes. Her poor toes are cramped and sad. Why display that? But the dress? Oh, I love the dress. I love the dress alone, I love the dress on her. I like how the bottom edge isn’t perfect, it’s ever so slightly raggedy. It fits her well. It’s red carpet fun while remaining age appropriate — after all, she’s only 14! The style makes it mature, but the pops of turquoise and green keep it playful and not too old for her. Her youth truly stands out in her hair and makeup the most, allowing the dress to anchor the look altogether. If she had worn a pink frilly dress, she’d look like a little girl, not an actress. So bravo!

Her hair is swept up to the side and back into a bun, but kept loose and easy. Her makeup is flawless and young. A fresh, dewy base paired with a super light coppery shadow to play up her gorgeous green eyes and add some depth. Her cheeks may not even have any color at all, and she just has a clear balm or gloss on, and that’s it! No nail polish, either. Clean and radiant youthful beauty.

Demi Lovato – The songbird wore an amazing peach Marchesa strapless gown, Marchesa clutch, Louboutin peep toe pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Okay… this dress is heaven. I was watching the red carpet and had to remember to breathe. It looks so perfect on her body, like it was made to fit her perfectly, it flattered her so well, and the gold accents complemented the dress and her skin tone so well. Love it.

Her hair and makeup are flawless. They don’t compete with the rest of her look, while playing up her natural beauty. A Kardashian-esque smokey eye, subtle blush, and quite a bit of highlighter. A peachy lipstick and some gloss provides springtime glam. Her stiletto nails are kept neutral and not-too-extreme. Probably my favorite of the night.

Demi’s performance outfit was decidedly more daring. A red lacey mullet Issa dress, über red lips, and ruby strappy Jimmy Choo heels to match her curly coif. She kept the second look to accept her award for “Favorite Pop Artist.” Go Demi!

Emma Stone She’s on everyone’s “One’s to Watch” list for this awards season for her amazing performance in The Help, and she has come out of the gate on fire! She’s dazzling in an emerald accented Gucci outfit with Tiffany & Co. jewels. Soft natural makeup played up the awesome-ness that is this outfit. Honestly, I can’t find anything wrong with it. The “Favorite Movie Actress” and “Favorite Comedic Movie Actress” is obviously saving the big guns for the most important award shows.

Ginnifer Goodwin has easily won the worst outfit for this event. A neon pink pirate dress? Um. No, thank you. The Roksanda Ilincic dress burns my eyes!

The future Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence isn’t afraid of bold color, but this Viktor & Rolf dress is way too mermaid-y. Cobalt waves over fishnet? I don’t know… But minus the fishnet, I love it. If it were just the cream with the blue overlay it’d be art and wonderful. Also, the delicious smokey eye was just a touch too much:

A natural look with amazing lashes and brows would’ve let the dress do a little better, in my oh-so-humble opinion.

Julianne Hough (picture from Google Images search) Looked amazing in a backless taupe Kaufman Franco stunner, shoes from Casadei, and jewels by Palladium. I can’t think of anything negative to say about this. Her hair and makeup were perfect as well. Another runner up for Best Dressed at People’s Choice.

She kept it sultry, yet subtle with her hair and makeup. Her gorgeous blond curls created the perfect frame for her baby blues, surrounded by black liner and lashes, perfect brows, pink cheeks, and peach lips.

Kelly Osbourne killed it in a floor-skimming Honor number, Casadei heels (apparently popular last night), and jewels by Roseark. The Fashion Police officer kept it fairly natural, with mascara, a touch of blush, and pink-red lips. Her hair, a gorgeous shade of lavender-gray (which I’m thinking of copying) flowed in super soft curls. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

The hostess for the night, Kayley Cuoco, looked stunning in this nude Badgley Mischka gown. It’s one of the many dresses she wore that night, any much better than the Little House on the Prairie dress “the voters chose.”

Kayley kept things fresh with gray eyeshadow, pink lips and amped up hair.

Lea Michele may have walked away with “Favorite TV Comedy Actress,” she arrived in what seems to be an unpopular fringe Marchesa gown. The internet it a buzz with people saying the dress is a miss! I have to admit, I’m not sure if I like it or not… but I think I’ve decided that while I’m not too big on the front, the back is kinda cool.

First of all, I love how the mesh blends so well with her skin tone, I didn’t even see it until this picture. I love how the dress curves up and almost looks like a ribcage. In fact, my fashion-blind father said “is it supposed to look like her spine?” I mean, if my father made a note of it… I honestly think I only like it because they said it’s Marchesa. I can’t NOT like Marchesa. It’s like a sin of girl-dom. But I hate the shoes. Bleh. Also, not a fan of her makeup.

The boldest lip color you’ll ever see my in is a matte red. Or maybe black… on Halloween. I can’t even do vampy because I’m so self-conscious that it’s all over my face all the time. Anyway, I hate this bold purple-pink on her. Her eyelashes are pretty clumpy too, in other shots I’ve seen. But her foundation looks flawless, her hair looks amazing (although I think it’s competing with the dress) and she’s Lea Michele. Good job,  girl!

Oh, Miley Cyrus, I love it when you do sexy right. This nude-with-sheer-and-jewels pleated wonder is from David Koma, with Neil Lane jewelry, and a Marchesa bag. And Jimmy Choos, which you can’t see. I love this dress so much. I love that she’s wearing it well, her makeup is light, and her hair looks decent. I don’t hate this.

Nina Dobrev, will you ever wear anything I like? Will you ever curl your hair again? Or is it Katherine disguised as Elena on the red carpet? Everyone is putting this on their best dressed lists, but I don’t agree. For one, her sleeves looks like moss or mold or something, and two, I really don’t like her nude accents. If the body of the dress had remained the same color, with the lace being black, and her shoes and bag been black, I’d have love this, but I can’t go for algae sleeves. And her hair and makeup are ho-hum. Also, she won “Favorite TV Drama Actress.” and accepted it wearing algae sleeves. (Not letting this one go, Nina. Make me eat my words and stun me with something, k?)

ROBERT PATTINSON! Did you just roll out of bed? Did you hit your head along the way?! A buzzed head, a not buzzed face, and a half buttoned shirt is your award show attire? I mean, you’re wearing jeans! Also, I think the half buttoned shirt is denim. Not sure, but I think so.

*UPDATE* According to some sources, Rob was actually super sick and still came. So… Rob is awesome. But he could have thrown on a tie. 😉

Um. Guys? I think Vanessa Hudgens is Venom from Spider-Man. But no seriously, this Jenny Packham dress is kinda cool. If she hadn’t gothed it up with the makeup, and it woulda been stunning. (No, I don’t know any other words to substitute for stunning. Except mind-blown. Which didn’t happen last night.) Also, I’d prefer it without the spiderweb sheer halter part, and wished it were a plunging v-neck instead.

There’s a lot of black going on here. But the earrings are pretty.

So DUN DUN DUN! Here are my best and worst dressed nominees:

BEST DRESSED NOMINEES:

  1. Julianne Hough
  2. Demi Lovato
  3. Emma Stone
Final Verdict: While I can barely decide, I think I’m going to have to go with Demi on this one. It’s the Marchesa factor. Also, Emma is only just beginning, and I’m sure I’ll be much more wowed with the rest of the season. And Julianne looked amazing, but maybe it’d would’ve popped more in black? I’m grasping at straws. Demi won by like .0001% in my book.
WORST DRESSED NOMINEES:
  1. Ginnifer Goodwin
  2. Vanessa Hudgens
  3. Nina Dobrev
Final Verdict: While I thought this was going to be hard, it actually wasn’t. Vanessa looked cool, even if the makeup was too much for the dress, and Nina just has to ditch the algae sleeves, and I’m cool. That makes Ginnifer the 80’s Pirate our worst dressed. That, with the boring makeup, and kinda crazy hair… not cool. Sorry. :/
Official Kettle Rose Rulings:
BEST DRESSED: Demi Lovato in the Marchesa masterpiece.
WORST DRESSED: Ginnifer Goodwin in the pirate disaster.

Notably absent: The entire Harry Potter cast, Taylor Swift, Rihanna (who was across the street instead), and Katy Perry, all of which had more than enough reason to stay home. But Katy did bring home 5 Waterford crystal statues!

The People’s Choice Awards kinda floundered in the comedy department, despite Kayley Cuoco’s best efforts.

I’m so excited to see the Golden Globes on Sunday– the big start to the AWARD SEASON is so close! AHH!

Red Carpet Review: 2011 American Music Awards

It’s award season! Fall is the best time of year ever. In fact, my birthday birthday is in three days (on Black Friday of all days. Usually it’s Thanksgiving.), the leaves are bright orange, there’s an ever so slight chill in the air, and we’re heading into award season and the holidays. Today I have my views on the fashion and makeup of the 2011 American Music Awards. Continue reading

GRAMMY FASHION TIME

Lets just get to it!

Lady Gaga: Uhm…. GENIOUS? YES! I get the egg thing, like I get it. But I wanted to see a dress! All week long I was chanting and dreaming “what will Gaga wear?!” and I get… an egg.

Red Carpet Arrival?

I wanted to see a freaking dress! I understand the reborn thing, with the coffin, egg, and performance trio, but after last years Planet Gaga I wanted to see a dress!

Her performance outfit looked kind of… scary nurse with a weird hat thing. But it’s Gaga, and I love it.

Performance

And her beautiful acceptance speech bulletproof bubble butt thing. Love the shoulders.

Acceptance for Best Pop Vocal Album

Nicki Minaj

Complete outfit by Givenchy.

Purrr! I love this girl so much! She knows how to get my style meter to rise. She can do no wrong! While I would have loved this in a metallic fabric instead, this leopard print outfit from Givenchy looks amazing! She has the attitude and the beauty to wear this without looking like a freak… and get a close-up of this makeup!

I -LOVE- Bruno Mars!

I mean, HELLO! She’s so pretty!

Ciara

Dress by Emilio Pucci, shoes by Givenchy, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels

I love this dress! The makeup and hair are perfect, and the dress is absolutely stunning. Only she could wear this!

Katy Perry

Adorbs

Oh, Katy… She wore a custom made Armani Privé dress, Thomas Sabo jewelry, and shoes by Casadei. She looks good, and cute… but Lady Gaga and Nicki upstaged her.

Quick note: the duochrome bottom part of this dress can’t be cut by scizzors or anything. It must be cut by a laser. Not sure why, but it makes it some of the most expensive fabric…

Bruno Mars

OM NOM NOM

You have no idea how in love with him I am. I cannot get over his face. His voice. MMMMMMMMM. Oh, and that suit looks nice too.

Justin Bieber

Suit by D&G.

Justin, you looks spiffy and all, but it doesn’t fit. You have the money to buy another suit when you grow up. Size aside, he looks fanshy!

Kim Kardashian

Dress by Franco Kaufman, jewels by Lorraine Schwartz, shoes by Christian Louboutin

Kim… no, sweetie, no. This dress is bad. When it didn’t fit your butt, you should’ve gone to a backup instead of panic and rush around, then look like crap. Amazing shoes, amazing hair, amazing snake bracelet, bad, bad, dress.

Dianna Agron

Dress by Vivienne Westwood, jewels by House of Lavande, and a Judith Leiber clutch.

I don’t watch Glee, I wanted to, but I lost track. So I had no clue who she was until the SAG awards, in which she showed up with the most beautiful hair and makeup. And ever since then she has been wowing me over and over. Her stylist needs a nice pat on the back.

Kelly Osbourne

Dress by Tadashi Shoji, jewels by Forevermark, shoes by Alexander McQueen.

WOWZERS. I have nothing to say about this. She’s stunning.

Rihanna

Dress by Jean Paul Gaultier

I hate this. It looks like Christmas garland. Blech. Looked fantastic on the runway, not on the red carpet. Granted, if anyone could wear it, it’d be her. But still, this is just a bad dress.

Amber Riley

Dress by Ema Savahl, Charles Albert ring,

Get it girl! She was rocking this! I think that a solid white dress instead of this painted dress would have looked a lot more… rockstar. Instead of miss mashed. Solid black would’ve also looked fabulous, but she wore a solid (amazing) black dress to the SAG awards. A++++++

Florence Welch

Dress by Givenchy

LOOK. AT. THIS. DRESS. I loooove this Givenchy collection. I love this dress, I love how it looks on her, but it could’ve been tailored a lot better. Mostly positive though. I mean, look at that back!

Hayley Williams

Dress by Jeremy Scott, Tacori diamonds, Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.

Uh………………..cute shoes? Not much to say here. The makeup is very much Hayley, she’s gorgeous, but what the hell is she wearing?! Worst dressed on my list.

Miley Cyrus

Dress by Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi shoes, Ofira and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Ugh. Is her 15 minutes up? She’s trying so hard to show off her new “spiritual dreamcatcher” tattoo. Which means sideboob, trashy dress, crappy hair, etc. Done with this.

Jennifer Lopez

Dress by Emilio Pucci, Louboutin shoes, Cartier jewelry.

Wearing all the staples, Cartier, Louboutin, Pucci… J.Lo is showing us what a Grammy dress is.

Snooki

Snooki looks AMAZING… for Snooki. But seriously her hair and makeup are so much more ladylike, and her dress, though not good for her body type, was classy and pretty.

Willow Smith

Her own custom outfit with custom Louis Vuitton shoes.

GOD I LOVE THIS LITTLE GIRL! I have nothing negative to say. What can you say about a nine year old doing her own thing and making it look good? Keep it up. Can’t wait for your new song.

Nicole Kidman

Dress by Jean Paul Gaultier and Fred Leighton vintage jewels.

She has hit her stride. She looks truely happy, and her style reflects that. Her hair, makeup, and styling are ON POINT. One of the best dressed here, and my favorite of the night.

Julianne Hough

Dress by Maladrino, Stuart Weitzman heels, earrings by Bochic, and Jimmy Choo clutch.

She’s not a heavy hitter here, but she looked gorgeous so here she it. B-E-A-U-TIFUL

Jennifer Hudson

Dress by Versace, Neil Lane jewels, Christian Louboutin heels.

I saved the best for last. My God, is she amazing. She’s so beautiful, I’m speechless.

Grammy Review

English class again. The class is in a computer lab where the computers don’t work. Go figure. So, I’m writing this on paper and typing later. I mention this instead of just copying it over, with you none the wiser, because my thoughts could have changed from then to now. (Sidenote: My favorite type of pens are free pens. My favorite free pens are the the Bic Grip Roller and the Bic clicky pens you get from State Farm. lol)

Anyhoo, the Grammys were on Sunday! Woo! I was so impressed. The past few years have been boring. I don’t think Justin Bieber won anything… but he had an awesome performance with Jayden Smith and Usher. I mean, I hate Ushers songs and strongly dislike Biebers music, but they both can entertain the s**t outta me! They can dance very well. And as for Jayden Smith… well, he’s a Smith. Him and Willow are my favorite kid performers. That family can do no wrong.

Lady Gaga: Her performance was AMAZING. I loved the song, she looked “normal.”

KATY! Love her. Her performance made me bawl like a BABY. Ugh, that wedding video? I’m a sucker. lol

So beautiful...

Oh, Rihanna. Besides your crazy red carpet look, you rocked. Drake better not have a girlfriend, or else you’re in trouble, and your Eminem performance was HOT.

That’s it for my performance review; stay tuned for my fashion and red carpet review.

English 102

I have 30 minutes left in my English class and I’m bored so I’m writing this on paper. I’ll type it up later. I just needed to share my thoughts on a few things in Hollywood unfurling today.

First, I can’t believe Ashlee and Pete are breaking up. I mean, I never studied their relationship and I’m not the biggest fan of Fall Out Boy there is out there, but in all the 6 pictures I’ve seen of them, they’ve been happy. Even pictures as of 4 days ago, they were smiling and laughing in the shot. I hope that Pete isn’t blindsided by this too. It’s so sad, and it always makes me scared for all of the “happy” looking couples. Of course, I always get this feeling after a couple breaks up. I get afraid for Brad and Angelina, Nicole and Joel, and well… I can only name those two because Halle and Gabriel are in the middle of a big fight… They all have such adorable kids and what seems like such happy, healthy marriages. It’s so unfair. sigh It’s so very Stepford Wives, or Charlotte and Trey’s marriage from Sex and the City. The tabloids rip them apart some quick. As we speak they’re speculating and releasing horrible information just hours after the divorce was announced.

I do hope though, that they get joint custody and both get to see Bronx the same. He’s still so little, he couldn’t possibly understand what’s happening. But my thoughts on the reason Ashlee gave for the breakup are unbelievable. She “can’t deal” with Pete’s career? Uh… sweetie, you married a rockstar. Bands come and go, tours happen. You shouldn’t have said yes if you couldn’t handle him or his career. If she gets full custody, how is she going to support him? She had no job! I mean, sure, she has family money. New money. Oh, and that $25 bucks she made from Autobiography and Melrose Place. Pete has Fall Out Boy and Clandestine. He’s buddies with Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, and he has this Black Cards thingy happening. He has a career. I just don’t get it. Is that what she couldn’t handle? He was out doing stuff? As I’m writing this I’m growing more and more against Ashlee. Is this a publicity stunt? Oh well, I’m over this topic.
