China Glaze Colours from the Capitol (Partial)

Hello! I was sent two colors from the ever so lovely China Glaze Capitol Colours collection! This is a super relaxed post though. Not the best pictures but I was waaay to excited to show them off. Better quality pictures soon to come.

China Glaze Smoke and Ashes is supposed to be representing District 12, the mining district, the home of Katniss and Peeta. It’s a black base with green and blue glitter. The glitter in this really does stand out, I promise. I couldn’t get the sun to come out either, so I guess things were hiding from me that day. But this shows the blue glitter peeking out.

Also, I have a boo boo on my pinky. So, obviously, these are just quick, worthless pictures. But you can still see that this is gorgeous, and I can tell you it’s worth the buy, and I can promise some serious pictures soon.

Let’s keep looking!

Here’s some of the green glitter!

HERE WE GO! See that bottle? That’s it! ❤

Now onto Electrify!

Electrify (District 5 — Power) is a super sparkly gold and red glitter in a clear base. Middle finger is two coats, the rest are three. This is suuuuper sparkly, like the Eye Candy collection. It’s sooo pretty. But not the star of this collection, really. I think they’re all even. Except the Fishing district one. It’s frosty. XD

A nice shot at my cut. I’ll show you what happened in a second. This picture really shows off the yellow gold-ness of this and the amount of red glitter.

Look at all the red reflecting in the bottle! This is really noticeably yellow gold in person.

I think with four coats this’ll be opaque enough so the the sparkle will distract from the see through. (Like my scientific terms? Like I said. This is a super relaxed  post. Just pictures. I figured they wouldn’t be… awesome. You know, because of the “boo boo.”

Which, by the way is just one of a couple dozen on my body right now. Work hazard. It’s all Kevin Hart’s fault. No… seriously.

I built this the other day. It’s a whole bunch of insert Tab A into Slot B, (make your jokes now… done?) and it’s all heavy cardboard. (By the way, I work at a movie theater…. in case you didn’t know.) So… yeah. I demand workers comp! It’s hindering my non-job job!

But seriously. THE HUNGER GAMES. MARCH 23rd. CAPITOL COLOURS COLLECTION BY CHINA GLAZE IN STORES MARCH 1st.

Fashion Roundup: 2012 People’s Choice Awards

So, last nights People’s Choice Awards were pretty underwhelming, both the show, and in the fashion and beauty department. I personally liked Kaley Cuoco as host, but I feel like nothing actually happened on the show. Did they even give out awards? All I remember is the hilarious Ellen DeGeneres/Sofia Vergara’s new CoverGirl ad together. Or Ellen’s acceptance speech. Pretty much… Ellen. Was the best part. And as I said, nothing fantastic happened on the fashion front. I wasn’t wowed by anything.

Ashley Greene — The Twilight star was a presenter last night and she looked amazing in a custom DKNY dress and black Brian Atwood platform pumps. I loved the dress, but it was really tight. I mean.. you can see everything. It’s like… second skin tight. It isn’t supposed to be flattering (I mean, you can tell she’s cold), but she pulls it off so well despite probably not being able to breathe. I just have to give her all the props in the world. She kept everything black, no flash of neon or contrast of any kind. She kept it simple and gorgeous. Which allowed her AMAZING hair and makeup to shine through.

Her hair is probably the best color ever. (Can you see the tiny JJ on her chin? XD I never would have thought of that, but Just Jared did.) She has a wonderful full coverage foundation with a dewy finish, a natural smokey eye, with a chocolate shadow in her crease, a black ever-so-slightly winged out line, and false eyelashes. I can see some light contouring, along with a peachy-pink blush, and a pinkish lipstick. That and her sculptured curls make a perfect girlie chic with the obvious edge of leather.

Chloë Moretz is the winner of the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 award last night, beating out her competitors- most of the Harry Potter cast! She walked the red carpet wearing a turquoise and black striped Proenza Schouler mini and black and clear Dolce mary janes. First of all, let me say, I hate the shoes. Feet bother me because they look awkward. So naturally, in my opinion any shoe that shows off the toes kinda bother me (i.e. peep toes, clear, and sandals). So. I don’t like the shoes. Her poor toes are cramped and sad. Why display that? But the dress? Oh, I love the dress. I love the dress alone, I love the dress on her. I like how the bottom edge isn’t perfect, it’s ever so slightly raggedy. It fits her well. It’s red carpet fun while remaining age appropriate — after all, she’s only 14! The style makes it mature, but the pops of turquoise and green keep it playful and not too old for her. Her youth truly stands out in her hair and makeup the most, allowing the dress to anchor the look altogether. If she had worn a pink frilly dress, she’d look like a little girl, not an actress. So bravo!

Her hair is swept up to the side and back into a bun, but kept loose and easy. Her makeup is flawless and young. A fresh, dewy base paired with a super light coppery shadow to play up her gorgeous green eyes and add some depth. Her cheeks may not even have any color at all, and she just has a clear balm or gloss on, and that’s it! No nail polish, either. Clean and radiant youthful beauty.

Demi Lovato – The songbird wore an amazing peach Marchesa strapless gown, Marchesa clutch, Louboutin peep toe pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Okay… this dress is heaven. I was watching the red carpet and had to remember to breathe. It looks so perfect on her body, like it was made to fit her perfectly, it flattered her so well, and the gold accents complemented the dress and her skin tone so well. Love it.

Her hair and makeup are flawless. They don’t compete with the rest of her look, while playing up her natural beauty. A Kardashian-esque smokey eye, subtle blush, and quite a bit of highlighter. A peachy lipstick and some gloss provides springtime glam. Her stiletto nails are kept neutral and not-too-extreme. Probably my favorite of the night.

Demi’s performance outfit was decidedly more daring. A red lacey mullet Issa dress, über red lips, and ruby strappy Jimmy Choo heels to match her curly coif. She kept the second look to accept her award for “Favorite Pop Artist.” Go Demi!

Emma Stone She’s on everyone’s “One’s to Watch” list for this awards season for her amazing performance in The Help, and she has come out of the gate on fire! She’s dazzling in an emerald accented Gucci outfit with Tiffany & Co. jewels. Soft natural makeup played up the awesome-ness that is this outfit. Honestly, I can’t find anything wrong with it. The “Favorite Movie Actress” and “Favorite Comedic Movie Actress” is obviously saving the big guns for the most important award shows.

Ginnifer Goodwin has easily won the worst outfit for this event. A neon pink pirate dress? Um. No, thank you. The Roksanda Ilincic dress burns my eyes!

The future Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence isn’t afraid of bold color, but this Viktor & Rolf dress is way too mermaid-y. Cobalt waves over fishnet? I don’t know… But minus the fishnet, I love it. If it were just the cream with the blue overlay it’d be art and wonderful. Also, the delicious smokey eye was just a touch too much:

A natural look with amazing lashes and brows would’ve let the dress do a little better, in my oh-so-humble opinion.

Julianne Hough (picture from Google Images search) Looked amazing in a backless taupe Kaufman Franco stunner, shoes from Casadei, and jewels by Palladium. I can’t think of anything negative to say about this. Her hair and makeup were perfect as well. Another runner up for Best Dressed at People’s Choice.

She kept it sultry, yet subtle with her hair and makeup. Her gorgeous blond curls created the perfect frame for her baby blues, surrounded by black liner and lashes, perfect brows, pink cheeks, and peach lips.

Kelly Osbourne killed it in a floor-skimming Honor number, Casadei heels (apparently popular last night), and jewels by Roseark. The Fashion Police officer kept it fairly natural, with mascara, a touch of blush, and pink-red lips. Her hair, a gorgeous shade of lavender-gray (which I’m thinking of copying) flowed in super soft curls. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

The hostess for the night, Kayley Cuoco, looked stunning in this nude Badgley Mischka gown. It’s one of the many dresses she wore that night, any much better than the Little House on the Prairie dress “the voters chose.”

Kayley kept things fresh with gray eyeshadow, pink lips and amped up hair.

Lea Michele may have walked away with “Favorite TV Comedy Actress,” she arrived in what seems to be an unpopular fringe Marchesa gown. The internet it a buzz with people saying the dress is a miss! I have to admit, I’m not sure if I like it or not… but I think I’ve decided that while I’m not too big on the front, the back is kinda cool.

First of all, I love how the mesh blends so well with her skin tone, I didn’t even see it until this picture. I love how the dress curves up and almost looks like a ribcage. In fact, my fashion-blind father said “is it supposed to look like her spine?” I mean, if my father made a note of it… I honestly think I only like it because they said it’s Marchesa. I can’t NOT like Marchesa. It’s like a sin of girl-dom. But I hate the shoes. Bleh. Also, not a fan of her makeup.

The boldest lip color you’ll ever see my in is a matte red. Or maybe black… on Halloween. I can’t even do vampy because I’m so self-conscious that it’s all over my face all the time. Anyway, I hate this bold purple-pink on her. Her eyelashes are pretty clumpy too, in other shots I’ve seen. But her foundation looks flawless, her hair looks amazing (although I think it’s competing with the dress) and she’s Lea Michele. Good job,  girl!

Oh, Miley Cyrus, I love it when you do sexy right. This nude-with-sheer-and-jewels pleated wonder is from David Koma, with Neil Lane jewelry, and a Marchesa bag. And Jimmy Choos, which you can’t see. I love this dress so much. I love that she’s wearing it well, her makeup is light, and her hair looks decent. I don’t hate this.

Nina Dobrev, will you ever wear anything I like? Will you ever curl your hair again? Or is it Katherine disguised as Elena on the red carpet? Everyone is putting this on their best dressed lists, but I don’t agree. For one, her sleeves looks like moss or mold or something, and two, I really don’t like her nude accents. If the body of the dress had remained the same color, with the lace being black, and her shoes and bag been black, I’d have love this, but I can’t go for algae sleeves. And her hair and makeup are ho-hum. Also, she won “Favorite TV Drama Actress.” and accepted it wearing algae sleeves. (Not letting this one go, Nina. Make me eat my words and stun me with something, k?)

ROBERT PATTINSON! Did you just roll out of bed? Did you hit your head along the way?! A buzzed head, a not buzzed face, and a half buttoned shirt is your award show attire? I mean, you’re wearing jeans! Also, I think the half buttoned shirt is denim. Not sure, but I think so.

*UPDATE* According to some sources, Rob was actually super sick and still came. So… Rob is awesome. But he could have thrown on a tie. 😉

Um. Guys? I think Vanessa Hudgens is Venom from Spider-Man. But no seriously, this Jenny Packham dress is kinda cool. If she hadn’t gothed it up with the makeup, and it woulda been stunning. (No, I don’t know any other words to substitute for stunning. Except mind-blown. Which didn’t happen last night.) Also, I’d prefer it without the spiderweb sheer halter part, and wished it were a plunging v-neck instead.

There’s a lot of black going on here. But the earrings are pretty.

So DUN DUN DUN! Here are my best and worst dressed nominees:

BEST DRESSED NOMINEES:

  1. Julianne Hough
  2. Demi Lovato
  3. Emma Stone
Final Verdict: While I can barely decide, I think I’m going to have to go with Demi on this one. It’s the Marchesa factor. Also, Emma is only just beginning, and I’m sure I’ll be much more wowed with the rest of the season. And Julianne looked amazing, but maybe it’d would’ve popped more in black? I’m grasping at straws. Demi won by like .0001% in my book.
WORST DRESSED NOMINEES:
  1. Ginnifer Goodwin
  2. Vanessa Hudgens
  3. Nina Dobrev
Final Verdict: While I thought this was going to be hard, it actually wasn’t. Vanessa looked cool, even if the makeup was too much for the dress, and Nina just has to ditch the algae sleeves, and I’m cool. That makes Ginnifer the 80’s Pirate our worst dressed. That, with the boring makeup, and kinda crazy hair… not cool. Sorry. :/
Official Kettle Rose Rulings:
BEST DRESSED: Demi Lovato in the Marchesa masterpiece.
WORST DRESSED: Ginnifer Goodwin in the pirate disaster.

Notably absent: The entire Harry Potter cast, Taylor Swift, Rihanna (who was across the street instead), and Katy Perry, all of which had more than enough reason to stay home. But Katy did bring home 5 Waterford crystal statues!

The People’s Choice Awards kinda floundered in the comedy department, despite Kayley Cuoco’s best efforts.

I’m so excited to see the Golden Globes on Sunday– the big start to the AWARD SEASON is so close! AHH!
